Pork Chops with Apple and Sage

British cuisine at its simplest

This recipe is very simple and vey traditional in terms of British cuisine. Using the barbecue to allow the apples to caramelise in their own sugar couldn't be easier.

  • 2 Knorr Chicken or Ham Stock Cubes

Method

1. Place the Knorr Chicken or Ham Stock Cubes and olive oil in a bowl and mix to a paste. This is the seasoning paste.

2. Take the pork chops and remove the fat because there is no way it’ll cook in the time it takes to cook the meat.

3. Rub the paste into each of the chops. The seasoning will slowly penetrate through the meat.

4. Chop each of the apples into 4 thick rounds, but no need to peel or core. Just eat around it.

5. Place a little oil on a baking sheet and place the apples on it to slowly caramelise on the grill. Add some fresh sage leaves, as much as you like.

6. Add the chops to the grill for about 5-6 minutes (depending on thickness).

7. Turn the apples and sage over regularly, check the meat as well and turn over once. By the time the pork is cooked, the apple is cooked.

8. Remove the sage from the apple. Serve the pork with the apple, garnish with some of the sage and drizzle with a little olive oil and rock salt for a Mediterranean touch.
